In-House Concerts
Parent Information
-
Concert performances are part of the school year, part of the band program, and part of each student's band grade - participation in these events is mandatory, barring an emergency. This is your student's opportunity to perform for an audience, and the culmination of a lot of hard work and many hours of practice. Every student's presence is critical to the success of the band ensemble, as each student plays a very specific part of the selected music. Take away that part, and the result is that the selection just isn't the same! (Example: all trumpets do not play the same part!) It's like trying to play a hockey game when one or more players are in the penalty box -- part of the team is missing.

Please mark your calendars for this year's concert performances. These dates do not change except in extreme circumstances. Band families will be notified of any concert schedule changes well in advance of the event.
-
Concert rehearsals are also mandatory, as explained above. However, the schedule for before and after school rehearsals does change in accordance with the progress of the band and the need for rehearsals as concert night approaches. All tentative rehearsals are noted on the master calendar as published in the band handbook. Please regularly check the monthly calendars on the website as all schedule changes are posted as quickly as possible. These last minute changes will be communicated via e-mail "from the band room" if time permits Don't forget to check with your student - Mr. Scott posts rehearsals on the board in the Band Room, and informs the students of any changes to the schedule. Your student should be able to tell you the schedule for the week!
