Congratulations...
... to all of our auditioning students for their efforts on Saturday, Dec 4th at the Charleston All-County Band auditions. Results will be posted as soon as we have them, so be sure to check the website if you want to know how it all went...
... And a HUGE thank you...
... to all of our All-County volunteers, both parents and students! It was a long, tough day, and it needed every single one of you to make it work. We received many compliments from judges, directors, and staff for our volunteer efforts, and those compliments go to all of you for getting the job done, despite a very slim volunteer roster and a noticeable lack of electricity for several hours during the event. Thanks for giving your time in support of the band - great job! A special thank you to everyone - too many to name - who stayed for an extra shift, or two, or three... And to Lou Ann Little for running the tabulation room for 10 hours... And to Jill Peterson and Rebecca Imholz for providing chauffeur service for my kids... And to Holly Hunton for making sure I ate. And to Jan, Kellie, Kelly, Michelle, and Nan - what can I say? You guys are the best.
Concert Opportunity
The Moultrie Middle School Band will perform its Winter Concert this Tuesday, Dec 7th at 7:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 681 McCants Drive in Mount Pleasant.
Schedule for the Week
- Monday, Dec 6th at 7:30 a.m. Brass Sectionals
- Monday, Dec 6th from 3:30 - 5 p.m. Full 6th Grade Rehearsal
- Tuesday, Dec 7th at 7:30 a.m. Woodwind Sectionals (including percussion)
- Tuesday, Dec 7th from 3:30 - 5:15 p.m. Full 7th & 8th Grade Rehearsal
- Wednesday, Dec 8th from 3:30 - 5:15 p.m. Full Symphonic Band
- Thursday, Dec 9th at 6:15 p.m. Call Time for 6th Grade Band students
Winter Concert - 6th Grade Band
Thursday, Dec 9th. Call time is 6:15 p.m. in the band room for all performing students. Please arrive promptly, dress in full uniform, (see band handbook), and remember to bring your instrument and your music binder. If your student is also in chorus or orchestra, they should dress in the chorus or orchestra uniform, not the band uniform.
Our seat cushions should be available in the lobby at $10 each. If you've ever sat through a winter concert on our bleachers, you'll recognize this as an opportunity to improve the quality of your evening, so stop by the table in the lobby and support the band!
Change of Schedule for Jazz Band Concert
The 8th Grade Jazz Band concert has been changed from Thursday, December 9th to Tuesday, December 14th to coincide with the 7th / 8th Grade Winter Concert. Please mark your calendars accordingly!
Lollipop Sales
The format for our very famous lollipop sales will change beginning this week with our Thursday and Friday, Dec 9th & 10th sale dates. We will no longer be selling lollipops on the bus and carpool loops after school. Apparently, our sales are holding up the buses, so rather than selling after school, we'll be selling during the lunch periods on our scheduled dates. We'll publish a new schedule soon, but in the meantime, if you can help this Thursday or Friday during your student's lunch period, please e-mail Kimberly Heck at RKHeck@bellsouth.net or Joni McLeod at Joan_McLeod@charleston.k12.sc.us. We thank the Cario administration for working with us on this one, and offering us an alternate way to continue this great fundraiser for the band.
Fruit Pick-Up
Fruit sale orders may be picked up this Thursday and Friday, Dec 9th & 10th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the St. George Warehouse on Clements Ferry Road. All orders must be picked up during these times - the warehouse will not store any fruit for us, so please plan to get your fruit on one of these 2 evenings. Directions to the pick-up site:
Take I-526 towards Daniel Island, and exit at Clements Ferry Road. Turn right off of the exit ramp, and go approximately 1 mile. Turn left at the big blue sign, "Cainhoy Park." The warehouse is the first building on the left. Your fruit order form and order confirmation will be waiting for you with our volunteers.
