Announcements For the Week of January 5, 2009
Happy New Year Cario Band Family!!!!!!!
A big welcome back to all,
All-County Band
Alert!!!! There is an All-County Master Class for all students that have an audition time for All-Region. If you are a member of the very few students that did not audition at All County, you are not eligible to attend the All County Master classes even if you have an assigned All Region time. Click here for the All-Region audition times. It will be held Tuesday, January 6, 2009 (TOMORROW!). All Brass 7th and 8th graders will be at Burke High school from 5:30-6:30pm. All 7th and 8th grade Woodwinds and Percussion will be at Wando High school from 5:30-6:30pm. Please be there 20 minutes prior start time to receive your room assignments. We apologize for the late notice as we just received this information from the band directors at 10:30 this morning.
All-Region Band Auditions
The All-Region Band auditions are this coming Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Summerville High School. The times are posted here, on the web site, and in the Band room. It is the students responsibility to check to make sure all information is correct! Please be on time for your audition and bring music in its original book. The dress code is casual plus classy...khakis or very nice pants with a nice shirt (with or without tie) for the boys and nice pants or skirt for the girls. Jeans, T-shirts, shorts, tennis shoes, and flip-flops are not acceptable attire. Results will be posted on the web site as soon as possible. Mr. Scott will send home more details later this week so be sure to check.
Symphonic Rehearsals
Symphonic Band rehearsal will not be held Thurday, January 8, or Monday, January 12. The symphonic band rehearsals are due to begin this Tuesday, January 20th at 7:15am and Thursday, January 22, at 7:15am. Symphonic Band chair placements will be based upon Region and State chair placement results. More information to follow. We will post a list when we receive one from the directors.
Lollipops
Those yummy lollipops will be on sale this Thursday, January 8, and Friday, January 9 in the Cario cafeteria lobby during lunches. Bring those $1 bills.
Florida Trip Update
There are some hard copies of the "Trip Information Sheet and the Trip Commitment Form". If you haven't filled one out and turned it in, please do so with your deposit.
The first payment deadline is January 9, 2009(this Friday). This installment is $125.00 If you have not turned in your Trip Commitment Form, and would still like to go on the trip, we have a limited amount of seat still available for the trip. This Friday's payment must include the initial deposit as well as the first installment. Please remember to attach the "Trip Commitment Form" with your deposit checks or the check will be returned.
The initial deposit that will secure a spot on the trip for your child will be $100. This deposit must be attached to the trip "Registration/Commitment" form that you will either download or pick up. The deposit will hold a place for your child and reserved spots will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are 90 spots available and about 150 7th & 8th grade students, so get your deposit in early. Checks should be made out to "Cario Band Boosters" and you should write your child's name & FL Trip on the memo line. Please refer to the band handbook about trip eligibility and requirements. Page 14 in the handbook.
Pie and Fruit Sale Update
We are so proud of all of the students that participated in the fundraiser. Each and every one of you stepped up and supported the band family. You are all winners.

Community Service Update
Thank you so much to all of you who donated during our coat drive. It was a huge success. Many families/children will be warm and toasty due to your generosity.We delivered close to 200 coats to the Low Country Orphan Relief Program. They were overjoyed.
Box Tops
Don't forget to keep clipping those box tops and Campbell's labels.
