Announcements For the week of February 19, 2009
Trip update
*Please note that seat availability is on a first come first serve basis for all Cario Band trips.
FLORIDA TRIP
The Feb. 2 payment for the Florida trip is now past due. If you have not sent this money in as of yet, you are at risk of losing your spot. If you did not participate in the flower or candy fundraiser, please remit your payment now. All band fees and trip fees must be paid in full before March 25 to go on the trip; however, please do not wait until the last minute to make your payments. We will work diligently to post fundraiser profits by March 2. After March 2 or when profits are posted, whichever comes later, any outstanding fees will be due immediately. Be aware that, because this is a competition event and a reward for hard work, all students who have signed up must meet Mr. Scott's qualification criteria If you have questions or concerns, please contact the trip coordinator, Mary Dinda, at 849-6801 or uniforms@cariobands.org .
**On Tuesday February 24, Mr. Scott has scheduled a meeting (for all students registered to go on the trip) to stay after school to choose their roommates and gather shirt sizes. We will also go over the rules and expectations. We also plan to have a parent meeting on Tuesday March 10, 2009. More information on the parent meeting to follow.
CAROWINDS
Mr. Scott is taking 96 students to the 33rd Annual Carowinds Festival of Music May 29. Be aware that, because this is a competition event and a reward for hard work, all students who have signed up must meet Mr. Scott's qualification criteria. We've had 93 students sign up as of Wednesday and expect to meet the maximum number allowed by Friday. We will keep a waiting list in case a student needs to drop out.
**Thank you to all those great band parents that volunteered to chaperone our Florida and Carowinds trips. To date, we have filled all of our chaperone positions. If you were selected, you should already have received notification and information from the trip coordinator. Please note, if you have volunteered, we are keeping you name on a standby list in case one of our chaperones must cancel. Thank you again for offering your time.

Practice Charts
Practice charts continue to be due each week. These are a part of your child's band grade! If your child is not practicing as they should, please encourage them to in order to earn a better grade in the class. But more importantly, to stay on track in band class so that our band can continue to be the best middle school band in the state....leading up to the best high school band in the state. If your child is practicing, it is important to follow through by signing and turning in the practice charts.
Community Service Project
We supported the Low Country's Needy Babies....by "Showing Some Love". This community service drive benefited Low Country Orphan Relief. Thank you to all of you who contributed in any way.
Thank You and Have a Great Week!!!
