Notes from Wando Band
To all rising 9th grade band students. As you know, there is a Wando orientation meeting tonight. What you don't know is that they will be conducting uniform sizing for the coming year before, during, and After the orientation. Don't forget to have this done before you leave.
Mr. McGrew wants all of the up and coming percussionists to visit his blog page. http://seanmcgrew.edublogs.org. When you get there you need to do the following. This site will be your main source of information regarding Percussion at Wando.
- Review the Summer Percussion Schedule that is posted here.
- Leave a comment about the Summer Schedule Message so he knows you have read it. Be sure to leave your name.
- If you have any questions, feel free to contact him at 735-9000. This number should be put in your phone starting now.
Carowinds Update
The band students that will be traveling and performing at Carowinds will have a MANDATORY practice after school on Wednesday, May 27, 2009. It will be in the band room and last from 3:45-5:00pm. Again this is a MANDATORY practice for those making the trip.
- The trip will be on Friday, May 29, 2009.
- The Chaperones need to arrive at the school at 6:15am.
- The Busses will pull out at 6:45 sharp so all students traveling should be there by at least 6:25 am.
There has been a lot of discussion and confusion surrounding the new CCSD medical form. There have been questions about whether it is needed or not. We have asked and re-asked to make sure. It is required and is a mandatory item that must be filled out, signed by the appropriate parties, and turned in prior to your student boarding the bus. If they do not have it, they will not be allowed on the trip. It is the Booster Clubs decision not to let this requirement be overlooked, as we will not be put in a position of responsibility and care over your child without the necessary approvals in place to administer such care as may be needed on the trip. We understand the inconvenience, but must follow the guidelines set forth by the CCSD.
Lollipop Update
We regret to inform you that this months lollipop sales days have been cancelled. This is due to the fact that the lollipop manufacturer failed to make our shipment as requested and left us nothing to sell. We apologize and thank you all for your support of this fundraiser and will see you again next year.
Beach Bash Update
The year end BEACH BASH is approaching and we would love to see all of you come out and enjoy a day at the beach. The Cario Band Boosters will be sponsoring the event and it will be catered by MOE'S. Be on the look out for the registration form that will be handed out. Please read it carefully because the RSVP for this event will be your ticket to eat at the function. Only those that RSVP for the bash will have food ordered for them and we will go by that list when serving.
Have a Wonderful Holiday Weekend,
Betsy
