Announcements For November 4, 2009

Pie & Fruit Fundraiser

THANK YOU to all who participated in the Pie Fundraiser! You sold over 800 pies! Pie pick-up will be November 18th at the Brickyard Clubhouse from 3:00-6:30 p.m. Pies must be picked up by 6:30 as there is no freezer storage at the clubhouse. If you can help with unloading, sorting and distributing pies, please contact Kim Brower at fundraising@cariobands.org.

The Fruit Fundraiser continues until November 16th. Forms and photos are available on the home page of cariobands.org. Fruit sales build your band account too so keep selling!

All Band Booster General Meeting

Cario Bands next concert on Tuesday, November 17th will also serve as the first All Booster general meeting. All parents of band students are members of the Cario Middle School Band Boosters. We have a few things to cover, so please plan to attend the meeting and enjoy the fine sounds of the Cario Jazz Band and Percussion ensemble.

Bylaw Revision

As the Cario Band Booster Organization has grown and evolved, the need to update and revise the Booster Bylaws has become necessary. The proposed revisions to the bylaws reflect the way the Booster Organization and its responsibilites have grown and changed over the last several years. The propsed revision is available for viewing at cariobands.org. The revisions primarily concern defining the role of the President Elect and creating a uniform committee. There are other updates throughout the document and all additions are italicized. The vote to accept the revised bylaws will be held at the All Booster general meeting on November 17th.

Notary Needed

If you are available to perfom notary duties at the concert on Tuesday, November 17th, please contact president@cariobands.org. You would need to be available before and after the concert. Thank you.

Spring Florida Trip

The spring trip to Florida on May 20-23rd is very close to filling up. If you have been waiting to see how many pies you sold to decide whether to join the trip, now is the time to jump on board! Once the trip is full, all others interested in joining will be put on a waiting list. The Florida Trip is always a fun time and what a great way to wind up the year!

Uniforms Update

Seventh & Eighth Grade

You will shortly be receiving an email from Mary Dinda, our uniform chair, regarding the Uniform Rental program and distribution of uniforms. Uniforms will be available for pick up prior to the November 17th concert, 6:00 - 6:50 p.m. and right after the concert. If you are unable to pick up your student's uniform at that time, other times and arrangements will be made.

Sixth Grade

The black pants from Stagecoach and black polo shirts will also be available for pick up at the November 17th concert, same time as above. Other times and arrangements will be made if you are unable to pick up your pants & polos at that time.

Forms

Please remember to turn in both pages of your notarized Medical Form. All necessary forms are available at cariobands.org.

Band Accounts

The second band fee installment was due on October 30th. Band account statements will be sent out November 6th. These statements will not reflect additions to your student's account from pie sales as that has not been calculated yet. If you have any questions about your statement, please contact Jill McKay at treasurer@cariobands.org.

Community Service Coat Drive

The second of our community service events will be a coat drive benefiting Lowcountry Orphan Relief. They are looking for donations of clean, gently used coats and jackets for children size 6 - 16/18. The coat drive begins November 9th and ends November 20th. Collection boxes will be available outside the band room. Now that it is cool in the mornings and you've discovered last year's jacket now has 3/4 length sleeves, please let us take it off your hands to benefit another child.

All County, Region and All State Audition Music

The music, scales and term requirements for all those who have registered to audition at these events is posted in the band room. Our students must know the Junior requirements. Students must bring their music to the audition with them. The All County audition is December 5th. More information will be available as the date nears.
