Practice Charts

There are quite a lot of students who are not turning in their weekly practice charts, particularly from the 6th grade, 7th grade concert band, and percussion. The practice charts constitute the homework grade for the class and missed practice charts can quickly lower the band grade. Each missed practice charts lowers your student's grade by two points. Interim reports were sent home with students yesterday. At this point in the quarter, it is very difficult to improve the band grade when practice charts are not being turned in weekly. Please be sure your student is practicing the required amount of time weekly (120 minutes for all grades) and properly filling out the practice chart with material practiced, time spent practicing and a parent signature. Practice at home is essential, not only for the homework grade, but to continually improve your student's ability to play their instrument.

Uniforms

Most 6th and 7th grade uniforms have been distributed. If your child has not brought home their uniform, it is in the bandroom and they need to ask Mr. Scott or Mrs. DuPuis for it. The 6th graders have a concert scheduled two weeks from today on Dec. 8th and the 7th & 8th grade have a concert on Dec. 10th. Students will not be allowed to perform if they are not in uniform and since concert performance is mandatory for all grades, it is essential that your student picks up their uniform. Any alterations needed are the responsibility of the parents. If you are not doing the alterations yourself, Tami Mahan, mother of one of our band students, has offered to do alterations. Arrangements for those alterations must be made with Mrs. Mahan and payments will be made directly to her. Questions regarding alterations should be directed to Mrs. Mahan.  Her email address is etmahan@bellsouth.net and her phone numbers are 971-7019 (h) and 270-2821 (c).
