Announcements For December 9, 2009
Holiday Concert Schedule
- 7th grade mandatory rehearsal Wednesday, Dec. 9th after school until 5:15 in the gym.
- 7th & 8th Grade Concert Thursday, Dec. 10th at 7 p.m. in the gym.
Call time for the concert is 6:00 p.m. All students must be in concert attire. Uniforms must be clean and pressed. Girls with long hair must pull their hair back. No jewelry is allowed except for small, discreet stud type earrings for young ladies. Please see page 9 of the handbook and below for more information on concert attire.
All band forms can be turned in at the 7th & 8th grade concert. Please help us with the collection of these forms. Chasing after you is very time consuming for our volunteers! We will have notaries available to notarize your medical forms. Please do not sign your form until you are in front of the notary and remember to have a photo ID with you.
We could also use the help of several students after school on the day of the concert to help set up for the performance. If your student is available after school, they should tell Mr. Scott they can help.
7th & 8th Grade Concert Attire
Concert attire for 7th & 8th grade students - boys must wear their tuxedo (white pleated tuxedo shirt, black tuxedo slacks, vest and bow tie), black dress shoes and black socks. Girls must wear their black dress, black shoes and black-tinted hose. Students not in uniform will not be allowed to perform. Students who are in both Chorus and Band will wear the Chorus uniform if performing for both groups at the concert. No medals are to be pinned to the uniforms. Please be sure that your student’s uniform fits. Please contact Mary Dinda at uniforms@cariobands.org with uniform questions.
Fruit Pick Up
- When: Saturday, December 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Location: St. George Warehouse, 1980 A Technology Drive – Charleston Regional Business Center – Charleston, 29492
- Remember: The product is perishable and delivery to purchasers should be within 48 hours. Fruit must be picked up from the warehouse at hours above.
Directions from Mt. Pleasant - Take I-526 to Clements Ferry Road, turn right. Travel approx. 2.7 miles, turn left into Chas. Regional Business Center, Turn right on Technology Drive and it is on the left. If you are coming from Hwy 41, turn left onto Clements Ferry Road, go approx. 5.7 miles and turn right into Chas. Regional Business Center. Follow above directions.
All County Band
Congratulations to all of our students who made All County! Great job! Results are posted in the band room. For students who felt this was not their best effort, take heart! Now that you've been to All County auditions, you know what to expect and what piece of your audition needs the most work. You have a whole month to prepare for Region auditions on January 9th.
Lollipop Sales
Lollipops will be on sale in the cafeteria this Thursday and Friday, December 10th & 11th. Lollipops are $1 each and come in many great flavors. Remind your student to bring their $$ if they want a treat.
Concert Opportunities
TubaChristmas Concert
The annual TubaChristmas Concert will be Monday, Dec. 14th at the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul in downtown Charleston at 7:30. The Cathedral is located at the corner of Coming and Vanderhorst Streets. This is a free concert and will be conducted by our very own Mrs. DuPuis. Think concert opportunity! This annual concert is a lot of fun and all tuba and euphonium players grade 7 and above are invited to participate. Rehearsal is Monday, Dec. 14th at 4:30. Please contact Mrs. DuPuis, asstdirector@cariobands.org for more details if your student is interested in performing.
Wando H.S. Holiday Concert
Wando H.S. band will perform their holiday concert on Thursday, Dec. 10th at 7:30 p.m. It will be in the Performing Arts Center.
6th Grade Concert Photos Needed
The Cario yearbook committe is in need of photos from Tuesday's concert. Group and individual photos are welcome, as well as photos of the directors. Photos can be emailed to Miriam Hurt at miriam_hurt@charleston.k12.sc.us. They can also be sent in on cd or jump drive. Mrs. Hurt is in the 630 pod.
