About our Website

Coding, Standards, and Compatibility

Our web developer (since 2004) is Tim Snoots (Snoots Technology Services LLC). Our website uses responsive HTML5/CSS3 and other modern web standards to ensure an accessible, stable, and consistent appearance in any modern, standards-compliant web browser. To keep up with modern web standards our site has been re-developed and re-themed for the 2017-2018 school year. It has been tested with current versions of the Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Edge browsers on many platforms and devices.

Accessibility

Efforts have been taken to make this website accessible to all users including those with disabilities. Our website is built using the Drupal 8 content management system which is committed to building accessible websites.

If you have difficulties using our site with assistive technologies please contact us so we can make improvements and correct the problem.

Privacy

We respect your privacy and do not collect personally identifiable information (name, email address, or other unique identifier) unless you have knowingly and purposefully provided it to us for a specific purpose. Any information you provide will only be used for the specific purpose stated on the page from which it was collected. If you provide personal information to us, we will never reveal or sell it to a third party.

When browsing any website your web browser automatically reveals some types of information to the web server it has connected to. The following are typically logged:

  • Your computer's operating system and web browser version
  • Your computer or router's IP address
  • The date and time you visited the site
  • The pages you visited on our website
  • If you clicked a link from another website to reach ours, then the page that linked to us is logged

Although our web server logs such information we will never release that information to a third party. Our web server log data is only used to improve the functioning of our website and to identify abusive visitors or hacking attempts.

We may occasionally use a few third-party web components on our website (such as Facebook "Like" buttons). These components may employ web tracking technologies and set cookies that we have no control over. Choosing to use "ad blocking" or other "web privacy" extensions to block these components is understandable and should not interfere with the basic functionality of our website.

If you are concerned about any of the student information listed on our site, or photos in the slideshow please contact the Booster President (president@cariobands.org).

Trouble Viewing our Website?

Nearly all problems viewing our website can be solved by simply using the most current version of a major web browser such as:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 / Microsoft Edge (available through Windows Update)
  • Safari (available through Apple App Store Updates)

If you are still experiencing problems with the website, please consider temporarily disabling any overly aggressive security software or browser extensions. We do not use advertisements, tracking cookies, or any other obnoxious web components and therefore we suggest that you whitelist our entire website if you use ad-blocking or script-blocking extensions in your browser.

Band Email Distribution Problems

If you are not receiving our "From the Band Room" or "Charms" email distributions, spam filtering may be to blame. Please look in your email's "spam" or "junk mail" folders for our messages. If the are marked as spam/junk, simply mark them as "not junk" and then also add the CharmsEmailSender@charmsmusic.com email address to your contacts and/or your recipient whitelist. Simply adding our list's email address to your online address book will typically prevent our emails from being blocked as spam. If you no longer wish to receive our emails at a particular address then please simply request for the databasemgr@cariobands.org to remove or correct your email address.

From the Band Room Archives

For historical reference we have done our best to maintain archives of several years of old From the Band Room pages. Because these pages nearly always contain links to outdated information or "dead links", we have removed all links but retained the URL information for reference. Archived links contain the old URL information in the "Title" attribute that produces a "tool tip" as you hover your mouse over the text (designated by dotted underline). This sentence is an example of how we have archived old links in FTBRs.
