From the Band Room - September 23, 2016

From the President

We enjoyed a tremendous week in the Cario Band family! The New Parent Breakfast was fantastic, the Letter Writing Campaign and the Coupon Book fundraisers are off to a terrific start, the Beach Sweep had a huge number of volunteers, and our young musicians are working very hard already making music! We have a lot going on in the coming weeks, so read carefully, stay tuned in, and keep encouraging your kiddos to practice! Vincent Van Gogh, one of my favorite artists, penned these words to encourage budding artists:

"If you hear a voice within you saying 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced."

Encourage your young musicians today-music is worth it!

New Parent Breakfast Recap

Thanks BURTON'S GRILL!

A hearty THANK YOU goes out to all the parents and 6th graders that attended, and to all the parents, boosters, and 8th graders (and of course Mr. Scott and Mrs. Mumford) for making this event a huge success. This was our first year at Burton's Grill, and those folks were incredible to work with. PLEASE support Burton's Grill when you can, and let them know you're with the Cario Bands!

6th Grade Uniform Pants

Reminder: The deadline to purchase the black uniform pants from Stagecoach is September 28th (next Wednesday!). As of yesterday, we have fewer than 50% of the 6th-grade uniform pants ordered! Please take care of this ASAP! Please email our Uniform chair with any questions at uniforms@cariobands.org.

Smart Music Assignments

6th grade: #11 and #14 are due Sunday, October 2nd. Have your students perform them for you!

7th grade: 2 per week, 1 scale and 1 Essential Elements exercise. These are on Sunday at the end of each week! Check with Mrs. Mumford for more specifics.

Concert Crew Needed

Are you looking for fun and active ways to get volunteer hours? We are forming a CONCERT CREW to help setup and tear down before and after concerts. It does require a little manual labor, but we're mostly looking for supervisors to help guide the band students - they'll do most of the work! If you're interested, please email Nick Holland at president@cariobands.org and we'll get you signed up.
