About Our Program

Welcome to Cario Middle School Bands, where "Excellence Through Music" is the hallmark of our program.

With an enrollment of more than 350 students this year, Cario Bands is one of the largest middle school bands in South Carolina. Our performance groups include the 6th Grade Beginner band, 7th and 8th grade Concert Bands, the Symphonic, and the Jazz Band. Under the direction of Mr. Jeff Scott and assisted by Mrs. Mumford, our students have consistently achieved superior ratings and results at local, regional, state-wide, and national competitions.

Support Cario Bands

Fundraising is an essential part of running an effective band program and is necessary to maintain a high-quality music program for all members of Cario Bands. Remember, Charleston County School District funds a very small portion of the overall costs of our award-winning band program. Fundraising for Cario Bands allows the boosters:

  • to offset the additional cost, over and above the band fees, of processing each student through the band program, which allows us to keep the Fair Share assessments at an acceptable level
  • to allow families an opportunity to fund their students’ accounts to assist in paying for Fair Share assessments, event fees, spring trips, and other qualifying band events
  • to raise money for the band so that we may continue to provide the program with the equipment and instruments that are needed for full instrumentation, thereby ensuring the ongoing integrity of the program for all band students

The band relies on the generosity of parents and friends of the band to support this high quality program. We welcome donations through our "Cario Bands Helping Kids" sponsorship campaign. Your tax deductible donation may be mailed to:

Community Service

Cario Bands is proud to give back to our community by participating in several community service projects each year, including the Beach Sweep on Sullivan's Island each September, Toys for Tots in November, a coat drive for Low Country Orphan Relief, and a book drive for Book Angels in the spring.
