Returning the Student Band Packets & Forms

Please make sure you return the Student Information Sheet even if you did not make any changes or corrections. Put the Student Information Sheet and all required forms, including the Statement of Responsibility, Yearlong Internet Policy, Uniform Agreement for 7th and 8th graders and the Smart Music form (and any money for microphones...checks only) in the Manila envelope you should have received. You may include your Fair Share Assessment (FSA) payment ($100 due by September 11th). Have your student bring the envelope to the band room and our Database Manager will be collecting the forms throughout this next week. This will be their first grade.

Cario Band Instrument Rentals

Students needing to rent instruments (i.e. Bassoon Euphonium, French Horn and Tuba) from the band program will be provided information in class once school begins. Students will not be provided an instrument until the Instrument Rental Agreement Form is completed and $75 rental payment attached. Cario Band has a few Brass and Woodwinds instruments for those who need financial assistance. Please send an email to Jeff Scott at director@cariobands.org.

6th Grade Rental Program: Representatives from Music & Arts and the Instrument Doc will be at Band Night on August, 20th from 6:30 ~ 8:30 pm to assist parents with instrument rentals. We provide this service as a convenience to parents; however, there may be wait times depending on the number of people needing to rent instruments. Parents may visit Music & Arts on Savannah Highway or Instrument Doc in Mt. Pleasant (Trombones only) to arrange an instrument rental or purchase at their convenience. Note: All 6th grade students will need instruments in time for the Fast Start clinics on September 4th & 5th. They won't need them in class before then.

SmartMusic Forms

  • Every student must return the SmartMusic Form
To ensure we order the correct number of SmartMusic subscriptions, every student must return the SmartMusic Order Form. You only need one subscription per family, unless your students use different computers. Please inform us if we need to order a subscription or that you can share a subscription. If you have a student in Wando Band, they will receive a SmartMusic subscription and therefore you would not need a copy for your Cario Band student (unless they are using different computers). Also, we will purchase microphones for the PC and MAC (at cost) that are designed to be used with instruments and SmartMusic. We only order microphones for those students that include payment with their form.

If your student used SmartMusic over the summer, you may get a warning to renew your subscription. DON'T! Your current subscription will expire on September 30th and all students will receive a new subscription in September (this is included in your FSA).

New Family Welcome Breakfast

Attention to All New Families to our Band Program! Please be our guest & join us at the Mt. Pleasant Applebee's on Saturday, August 29th. Meet some experienced Band Students and Booster Board Members. Talk to 8th Grade Band Members who play the same instrument you do. If you have questions, this is the time to ask! Enjoy a nice, hot pancake breakfast courtesy of your Band Boosters. We really are here to serve you and look forward to meeting you! Please complete and return the New Family Welcome Breakfast Reservation by Monday, August 24th.

8th Graders:

Be on the lookout for a Volunteer Sign Up email. We will be needing lots of you to welcome the new 6th graders by greeting, serving and answering any questions they have. We will need some parents as well to cook the pancakes. There will be a couple of shifts so you won't have to be there all day. It will be a lot of fun!!

Annual Together for Kids Letter Writing Campaign ~ Due Wednesday, August 26th

Your child will be bringing home a page for you to write down the names and addresses of family and friends that you would like to invite to sponsor our band program over the course of the year. Your student will be signing the letter and addressing the envelopes during band class on Thursday, August 27th. Please complete the Address Form and include the name and address information for the envelopes and the greetings for the letters. You can bring in stickers to decorate the envelopes if you would like. Please include any additional names and greeting on the back of this form.

Uniforms ~ 8th Grade

Uniform ~ 8th Graders: Remember that you will have Wando Band Night where all the 8th grade band students from Mt. Pleasant perform with the Wando High School Marching Band on Friday, October 11th (attendance is mandatory). You will need khaki shorts and predominantly white tennis shoes to go along with your blue Cario band t-shirt. Note: Stagecoach has the very same khaki shorts that the Wando High School marching band wears for $20.

IMPORTANT! Every 8th grader needs to try on their Cario Band t-shirt. You MUST verify that your Cario Band t-shirt fits or order a new size. (Your student must wear this t-shirt, if they are volunteering for Fast Start Clinic or the New Family Breakfast and they will need it for Wando Band Night on September 18th).

Please contact our Uniform Chair, Elisa Chavez, with any questions you may have at uniforms@cariobands.org.
