A Note from the Directors:

We apologize if we didn't return your email last week. Teachers received a pre-recorded phone call Tuesday evening announcing that there were numerous issues with the email system, and the district was working on the problems. Please know that we are slowly catching up on our emails. Mrs. Wilkinson's email address asstdirector@cariobands.org is now working.

  • Building Confidence through Sight Reading - $10

We are integrating a new counting system, which required us to purchase a book that we were unable to incorporate into the Fair Share Assessment. Please make checks payable to Cario Band Boosters and place your child's name and grade/class in the memo line. You can either fill out the Music Book slip (that was sent home with your student) or place your check into an envelope and note your student's name, class and Rhythm Book. We are distributing books on Monday, September 10th and your student will not receive a book without payment.

  • Lessons Academy – Begins Tuesday, September 11th

Emails were sent out to students that signed up for Cario Lessons Academy with the name of your instructor and your lesson time. We couldn't accommodate all the families that requested the 4 or 4:30 pm time slot. Your instructor will contact you and make adjustments if they are able.

Mr. Scott & Mrs. Wilkinson

Beach Sweep – Saturday, September 15th

Jill Lofstead, our community service chair, will be checking in Cario Band volunteers at the Fort Moultrie Visitor Center between 8:30 and 9:00 am. Our assigned area on the beach is within walking distance of the Visitor Center – Sections 16 - 18. Please send an email to communityservice@cariobands.org and let us know if you are planning on participating.

Trash bags will be supplied for cleanup. Please bring gloves, grabbers, sunscreen and bug spray.

  • Directions to Fort Moultrie Visitor's Center - 1214 Middle Street on Sullivan's Island:

From Mt. Pleasant and U.S. 17, follow the signs for SC703 and Sullivan's Island (SC703 is not the IOP connector. Coleman Blvd. becomes SC703 at the Royal Ace Hardware intersection.) Take SC703 to Sullivan's Island across the Ben Sawyer Bridge. Continue straight and turn right onto Middle Street. The Fort Moultrie Visitor Center parking lot will be on the right in 1.5 miles.

Cario Bands Together For Kids

Thank you Band Parents! Your response to our Annual Cario Bands Together for Kids Letter Writing Campaign has been nothing short of amazing! Having so many children fully prepared to write letters to family and friends made this campaign a breeze to accomplish. In fact, some students had SO many names they weren't able tocomplete them in class. If your child either forgot their address list or couldn't finish in class, their letters and envelopes were sent home. Please return the letters to the Fundraising Box in the band room no later than Wednesday, September 12. Feel free to print and fill out additional letters and address forms. Be sure to return the original address list with the student name on it. We will use the address form to put students in our gift card drawings for those who brought in 3 or more and 10 or more addresses. We will have our drawings on Friday, September 14th.

QSP Magazine Sales – Ends September, 19th

We're determined to exceed our total sales of over $8,000 last year, so keep asking people to renew their subscriptions as every sale helps!

Don't forget that subscriptions make great gifts (the holidays are coming). If you sold subscriptions last year, their subscriptions are nearing renewal. Remind them to renew through you and continue their support of Cario's band program. While online magazine sales continue all year long, we have only one more week for the students to get their name in the classroom drawing. Turn in 3 orders and get entered in a drawing for a Joey Bag of Donuts (one drawing per class except Jazz Band). Turn in 6 or more and get entered into a drawing for a gift certificate.

If you haven't yet registered your child for online sales, visit the QSP website at www.qsp.com. Our school code is 2699635.
