Notes from the Directors

7th & 8th Grade:

  • We have extended the deadline for the first Practice Chart to Friday, September 6th.
  • The Florida Trip is full, but not sold out. What does this mean? Typically 10 - 14 students drop in the next 8 weeks. If you have not sent in a Florida Trip Commitment Form, complete the form and send in your $50 deposit. You will be placed on a numbered list and sent an email once you are placed on the trip. Please remember that the last day to drop the trip and receive a refund is Thursday, November 7th. (Refunds are not given if the student has a balance in their account).

6th Grade:

  • Mandatory Fast Start Clinic ~ Check-in 5:45 - 6:00 pm outside the Band Room. Clinic is from 6 - 8:00 pm
    Woodwinds & Percussion ~ Wednesday, September 4th
    Brass ~ Thursday, September 5th
  • Drop-off & Pick-up Location: Please use the gym as the drop-off & pick-up location for the safety of our children!
  • Instruments
For students that use Cario Band instruments, you will use your school instrument located in the closet. IMPORTANT: You must bring your mouthpiece.
For students that rented instruments from either the Instrument Doc or Music & Arts, those instruments will be delivered to the band room on the day of your clinic unless you picked it up from the store.
  • Bring your Instruments to Class
Woodwinds students must bring their instruments to class beginning Thursday, September 5th
Brass students must bring their instruments to class beginning Friday, September 6th.
This ONLY applies to trumpets and trombones.

SmartMusic:

If you received an email from our Database Manager regarding a missing SmartMusic Form, please return this as soon as possible. We must place our order by Tuesday, September 3rd.

Lessons Academy:

There is still space available for lessons. Please complete the Lessons Academy Registration Form and attach a registration payment of $55 (payable to Cario Band Boosters). If you made the check payable to Jeff Scott, this check has been shredded. Please send in a new check payable to Cario Band Boosters (note your student's name in the memo line).

Fundraising

Please remember that the following Fundraisers are for our General Operating Accounts. As long as we meet our budgeted goal, then 75% of profit from the Student Fundraisers (Fruit, Pie & Spring campaign) go to the student's accounts to help with your FSA and spring trips.

  • Annual Together for Kids Letter Writing Campaign
The students did a great job writing their letters and addressing envelopes! We are creating a Thank You Postcard that will be mailed to our sponsors. More information will be provided in the next 4 - 6 weeks. We will complete the special drawings for bringing in your address sheets at the end of September.
  • Great American Magazine Fundraiser
Our Great American Magazine Fundraiser begins on Wednesday, September 4th. We like this project because we don't have to sell anything! Just ask your neighbors, friends and family to RENEW their subscriptions (regardless of subscription expiration) through our fundraiser. This benefits our "customers" as subscriptions are slightly less, and we get part of the profit. A true win/win for everyone! Visiting your doctor's office? Ask them to renew their subscriptions.

REMINDER: Don't forget that subscriptions make great gifts, especially with the upcoming holidays! Our on-line sales will continue throughout the year! You can shop on-line at http://www.gaschoolstore.com/Login/Index and our Great American school code is 2699635. Have your friends and family renew subscriptions and continue supporting the Cario Band Program.

Box Top Business!

Make sure you are clipping those Box Tops! Please insert the Box Top Form and note your student's home room teacher/POD Team. Did you know our band gets 10 cents for every Box Top turned in? That adds up quickly! Plus, we can earn cash online too! You can shop online through the Box Tops website and earn eBoxTops® credits on all your purchases. Just click the "earn" section at the top of the BTFE.com homepage and scroll down to "shop marketplace." Any eBoxTops you earn will be automatically credited to our school. New Family Welcome Breakfast ~ Saturday, September 28th

The Welcome Breakfast Flyer and RSVP Form was sent home in class today. This breakfast is for any family that is new to our band program (6th, 7th and 8th grade). This is a great opportunity to meet our Booster Board Members, and for your student to talk to 8th Grade Band Members who plays the same instrument you do. If you have questions, this is the time to ask! Enjoy a nice, hot pancake breakfast courtesy of your Band Boosters. We really are here to serve you and look forward to meeting you! Reservations are due Thursday, September 19th.

Thanks to our Volunteers

Wow! Our parent volunteers ROCK! You have been so supportive of the band students and jumped in to help get the first week of school running smoothly. I know we couldn't have had such a successful week without you! So once again, thanks!
