6th Grade Honor Medal Pass Offs
These are located under the SmartMusic class "6th Grade Honor Band". The Pass Offs are not required for all band students; they are only required for students to receive the Honor Medal. Students working toward the Honor Medal should be completing these at their own pace. Before 6th grade students submit assignments, they must meet the requirements of a grade of 95 or higher and one red note or less. All Honor Medal pass offs must be completed by Tuesday, May 6, 2014. -

7 Major Scales- Assigned on 10/7, DUE on Tuesday, November 26 (day before Thanksgiving Break) - 7th and 8th Grade Sight-Reading for Auditions
With auditions for All County, Region and State approaching, students should be completing some Sight-Reading examples each time they practice. The easiest and most efficient way for students to practice Sight-Reading is through SmartMusic. SmartMusic gives your child an assessment of their performance as soon as they finish completing the example! Instant feedback on how they did! You can find the instructions on how to access the Sight-Reading Exercises in SmartMusic. The directors have been and will continue to go over Sight-Reading in class as well. - Save the Dates ~ Mandatory Rehearsals

Fundraising ~ Pie Pick-up
The Pie Pick-up is Wednesday, November 20th at the Dunes West Athletic Club (next to the tennis courts and pool) from 3:30 - 7:30 pm. Your gate pass is under Cario Bands Pie Pick-up. If the pies are delivered and available earlier than 3:30 pm, Amy Rankin will send out an email. If you are not available to pick-up your pies during these times, you MUST arrange for someone else to pick them up for you. Please remember that if you don't pick-up your pies, they will be donated to ECCO. We do not have freezer space to store any pies that are not picked-up. A reminder email will be sent on Tuesday and questions should be sent to fundraising@cariobands.org.
7th & 8th Grade Uniforms
Students will wear their formal concert uniform on Tuesday, December 17th. Just a reminder to make sure that your uniform is hemmed appropriately. The girls dress takes several hours to hem, so you don't want to wait until the last minute. If you have any questions, please contact Caroline McKinney (uniforms@cariobands.org).
Concert Opportunities
Concert Evaluations: If you have questions regarding the requirements for "Outside Concert Attendance" or completing the Concert Evaluation Form, please refer to the Band Handbook ~ "Outside Concert Attendance" (page 16). Please note the following:
If a concert program is not available, the parent signature is confirmation that the student attended the concert. Do not turn in a Concert Evaluation Form until you have written 2 evaluations (3 if you are working towards 6th Grade Honor Medal or 7th & 8th Grade Honor Band Award). The completed form can be turned in at any time. The due date is Tuesday, January 14, 2014.
