Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a restful Thanksgiving break and were able to enjoy family, friends, food, and football! We have a lot going on from now until the Winter break, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Florida Trip Information!
We are planning our spring trip to Universal Studios for 7th & 8th graders. What's included in the trip??? EVERYTHING!!! That's right, everything! 3-day Park-to-Park pass to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, 1-day pass to Aquatica Waterpark, all meals, t-shirts, hotel for 3 nights, bus, a Blue Man Group show and a workshop with the Blue Men! Our vendors are asking for advance deposits, so we are asking for a commitment to attend the trip. The estimated total cost of the trip is $599.
Please send in the Florida Trip Commitment Form (sent home previously, or download from the website), and a Non-Refundable deposit of $200 to register and secure your placement on the trip. The deadline for the $200 deposit is December 9th, 2016.

Note: All band fees must be paid in full PRIOR to the final payment date of February 17, 2017. Students who have not paid band fees will be ineligible to travel.
7th and 8th-Grade Chair Tests, THIS WEEK! December 1st after school
Chair tests for all 7th and 8th-Grade Band members will be held after school on Thursday, December 1st. Your students have signed up for a time. Please communicate with them as to when they need to arrive. The chair test should only take about 15 minutes.
Charleston All-County Band Cancelled
The All-County Band Clinic scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2016, has been CANCELLED. SOA had difficulty scheduling and hosting the event. Enjoy the Saturday off!

Lessons Academy Update:
There will be NO LESSONS ACADEMY on Tuesday, December 6th, 2016 because of the concert that evening. Lessons will resume on Wednesday, December 7th. Looking ahead, the last LESSONS ACADEMY for the semester will be on Wednesday, December 14th.
SCMEA 7th-Grade Band Update
If you haven't heard, our very own Samantha Mumford has been selected to present a session at the South Carolina Music Educators Association In-Service Conference on Friday, February 3rd, 2017. Her presentation includes successful rehearsal techniques for 7th-grade bands, which means our very own 7th-Grade band will be performing in a clinic setting for the conference! Congratulations to Mrs. Mumford and to our 7th-Grade band! With that in mind, several early morning rehearsals are scheduled to prepare the group for the clinic. The first early AM rehearsal for the SCMEA group is TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13th, 2016. Rehearsal begins at 7:15 AM in the Band Room.
Holiday Service Project - Toys For Tots!
We are continuing one of our favorite holiday service projects this year and participating in the Lowcountry TOYS FOR TOTS campaign! Beginning tomorrow, a collection box will be outside the Cario Band Room for any toys you wish to donate. This is also a great way to earn some of your required volunteer hours! For each toy donated counts for one volunteer hour! Be sure to download and complete the Toys For Tots volunteer form located on the website (in the 'Forms' section), and include that form with your donation! Thanks for helping us make this holiday season special for children all across the Lowcountry!

Annual Holiday Party - Friday, December 16, 2016
The Annual Cario Band Holiday Parties are during each band period on Friday, December 16th. Stay tuned for more details, as we'll need volunteers to bring in snacks, help chaperone, and help entertain the kiddos with re-enactments from your favorite holiday movies! (or, we'll just show movies in the band room for the kiddos J )
