From the President

We're not quite to the 7th inning stretch, but the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to glow a little! We have a flurry of activity over the next few weeks, so pay close attention to dates, deadlines, and celebrations! Thanks to all the parents that were able to chaperone for the Region Band trip a couple weeks ago! The kids represented Cario beautifully. On the horizon - Jazz Band/Percussion Ensemble, All-State, Skyzone fun day, Concert Performance Assessment (affectionately known as 'festival'), the FLORIDA trip for 7th & 8th graders, and the CAROWINDS trip for the 6th graders! Before long, we'll be zeroing in on the Spring concert, the Beach Bash, and the end of the year! Okay, everyone take a deep breath, and dive in!

Jazz Band/Percussion Ensemble Concert Tonight!

I hope and pray your musicians have shared with you that the JAZZ BAND/PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE & Troubador concert is TONIGHT at 7:00 PM in the Cario gym! Jazz and Percussion students need to arrive by 6:15 PM in the Concert attire. This includes both 8th grade and 7th grade percussionists.

All-State Band This Weekend!

All-State Band is this week. You should've received lots of information from the directors, including rooming lists, etc. Please check with your musician to make sure you are fully informed!

2017 Carowinds Music Festival -
Cario 6th Grade Band, Chorus and Orchestra
April 21, 2017 ~ Cost: $115

It is time for our annual trip for the 6th Grade Beginner Band, Chorus & Orchestra trip to Carowinds. The students have worked hard this year and we are rewarding them with a competition performance trip to the Carowinds Music Festival in Rock Hill, SC. This should be a fun day and a great opportunity to "break in" the beginners to competitive events.

Students who are registered in two groups may participate in both competitions. Those students who are in Band & Chorus should register with Chorus. All Orchestra Students must register with Mrs. Heine.

Our spring trip is designed to build a community spirit and to reward those students who have worked hard to make our program a success throughout the year. Since we will be participating in the Carowinds Music Festival, it is important that students bring their best effort and attitude to rehearsal each day. The students will perform and be graded by a panel of judges. Please see the Carowinds information forms on the band website!

Florida Trip Payments

We have 20 students who still owe money for the Florida trip. All but 1 of these is for $199 or greater! The total outstanding balance for the trip is nearly $3400. This needs to be paid immediately!

Carowinds Trip Payments:

We'll be setting up the online trip payment feature for the Carowinds trip this week, so stay tuned if you prefer to pay for the trip that way. Otherwise, please send in your trip registration form and your payment by March 17.

Uniforms Update

Students going on the FLORIDA trip need to make sure their light blue Cario Band t-shirt that they received as a sixth grader still fits. They will be wearing these shirts as a group one day of the trip. If your student has outgrown his or her shirt and needs a larger size, please let me know as soon as possible so I can get them another one (no payment needed). I would love to have this information this week so that I might get any new shirts needed to them next Monday night at the parent meeting. FLORIDA Chaperones: please also let me know if any of you do not have a shirt or need a new one for any reason.

Skyzone Cario Band Family Fun Day!

The Cario Band Family is having a FAMILY FUN DAY at the SkyZone Trampoline park in Mount Pleasant on Sunday March 19 from 4-6 PM. Please see the SkyZone information on the Cario Band website. Forms were due today, but if you missed it and still want to participate, get them in ASAP!
