From the President ~ Welcome to Cario Bands 2017-2018!
We have had a super busy last couple of weeks---lots of fun travel for an amazing group of young people!!
And a special thank you to Jenny Baldwin for all of her hard work as the Trip Coordinator----making travel arrangements for a group our size is an incredibly difficult job and she deserves the gratitude and respect of everyone! I want to personally say thank you for all of the time and effort that you put into making our trips to Florida and Carowinds a success!!

There will be no Cario Jazz Concert on Tuesday---this is a change from the Master Calendar Schedule
There will be recitals this week in the Cario Band room---a great opportunity for Concert Credits
Monday recitals 6pm and 7:15pm

Community Service
Our 2018 Book Angels Drive is underway and ends on April 27th---Please send books in with your student to be stacked against the wall outside of the Band Room. An email with information on the types of books as well as a donation form to be completed (sent on April 13th). And remember, every four books donated earns one hour of volunteer credit.
Events
The Annual Beach Bash date has been set---it will be Thursday May 31st….make a note in your calendar. Additional details will follow soon. Note: this is a change from the Master Calendar….
Wando Band Foundation Gala
Mr. Scott sent an email last week with information about the Wando Band Foundation Gala on Friday May 4th. As a middle school feeder, proceeds from the profit of the event, purchased by Cario parents, will be donated to the Cario Band Program. This is not a Cario Band fundraiser, but an event sponsored by the Wando Band Foundation to build support for our community’s band programs. A flyer with details was part of this email sent on April 19th.
Concert Opportunities/Recitals
This Thursday April 26th at 7pm, the Wando Jazz Band and Percussion Concert will be held at the Wando PAC. There will be a dress rehearsal on Wednesday April 25th at the Wando PAC from 4:15-6pm. They have graciously invited the Middle School students an opportunity to attend the dress rehearsal—and this counts as a concert credit!! An email was sent yesterday, Saturday April 21st, with information to sign up for the dress rehearsal. I attended last year and it was a blast!!
On Sunday May 6th at 6pm, the Charleston Wind Symphony will perform at East Cooper Baptist Church. Many of our private teachers perform with this group. I saw one of their performances last year—and I saw many of our students amazed at watching this group. It’s also really cool to see the people who teach perform together.
As mentioned above, there are Recitals at the Band Room this Monday and Wednesday---an email with a list of performances was sent on April 20th.
