From the President ~ Welcome to Cario Bands 2017-2018!
It's amazing that we are approaching the end of another year---and how quickly time flies! Great job this week by all those who performed at the recitals!
From the Directors
Last day for lessons academy is May 16th
7th Grade Rehearsal on Friday May 11th at 7:15am to prepare for the Spring Concert
5th Grade Instrument Testing Thursday May 3rd from 4-8pm. Please spread the word to anyone with 5th Graders interested in band next year. 8th Grade Students can sign up with Mr. Scott to work a shift---either 4-6pm or 6-8pm (wear the Blue Cario Band Shirt for the shift)
Volunteers
As you know, our organization cannot function without those who give of their time and volunteer. I am truly grateful to all those who have participated in events throughout the year---and especially those who have taken the time to volunteer for our Booster Board. Mr. Scott always says that "the more involved the parent(s), the better experience the student has in band".
With that said, we do have some of our Board Members with 8th Graders and will not have students at Cario next year…..and we are looking for individuals who are interested in being involved with the Board. Just reply to this email if you're interested and we will reach out to you….
Instrument Testing
For instrument testing night, Thursday May 3rd, we need volunteers to assist in entering data into the system for these new students….at least 3 people per shift would be great! Please reply to myself and the Directors if you are available. And don't worry if you don't have data entry experience, this is not a difficult job but the more people we have, the easier it is on us all!!
Community Service
Our 2018 Book Angels Drive ended on April 27th—thanks to all who sent in donations. And a huge shout out to Jenny Norman for all of your leadership with the program!!
Events
The Annual Beach Bash date has been set---it will be Thursday May 31st….make a note in your calendar. Additional details will follow soon. Note: this is a change from the Master Calendar….
Wando Band Foundation Gala
Mr. Scott sent an email last week with information about the Wando Band Foundation Gala on Friday May 4th. As a middle school feeder, proceeds from the profit of the event, purchased by Cario parents, will be donated to the Cario Band Program. This is not a Cario Band fundraiser, but an event sponsored by the Wando Band Foundation to build support for our community's band programs. A flyer with details was part of this email sent on April 19th. Today is the last day to get tickets—an email was sent yesterday!
Concert Opportunities/Recitals
On Sunday May 6th at 6pm, the Charleston Wind Symphony will perform at East Cooper Baptist Church. Many of our private teachers perform with this group. I saw one of their performances last year—and I saw many of our students amazed at watching this group. It's also really cool to see the people who teach perform together
